John Dickson & Son is Scotland’s oldest gunmaker and makers of the distinguished Round-Action shotgun that avid hunters from around the world commission us to build. We operate out of the picturesque village of Dunkeld in Perthshire, which is very much the gateway to the highlands of Scotland.
Gun Room Manager Vacancy
We are currently looking for a full-time Gun Room Manager to join us in Dunkeld and manage our operations front-of-house and the associated back-office administration which goes with the role.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist customers with general enquiries which include guidance on sales of our vintage and new guns.
Engage, plan and book visitors into our showroom and provide a bespoke and personal purchasing experience.
Manage all transaction registers for sales, repairs and storage of firearms.
Work with the onsite workshop and outworkers to manage projects and deliverables.
Attend exhibitions and shows, which may be on an international basis, to promote the company and its products.
Manage the operation of the retail showroom, including its displays, maintenance and tidiness, and managing inventory, ordering stock, and liaising with suppliers.
The ideal candidate will:
Have some experience in the gun trade or familiar with the basics of firearms.
Have some interest in our history and be keen to learn it and pass it on.
Hold a valid shotgun and/or firearms certificate.
Have an interest and knowledge of guns, shooting and firearms law.
Have a polite manner and professional approach to work.
Have a basic understanding of IT related skills (Word/Excel/Outlook).
